Back in 2000, The a2 Milk Company was founded in New Zealand by Dr. Corran McLachlan who studied at Cambridge University. Corran discovered that proteins in milk affect people differently.
He learned that most regular cows produce milk with different beta-casein proteins type, called A1 and A2. He then discovered there was a safe and simple way to identify cows who produced milk that was naturally A1 protein free. From there The a2 Milk Company was born.
The a2 Milk Company and Fonterra partnered together in 2018, joining Fonterra’s global reach, manufacturing capability and New Zealand know-how with The a2 Milk Company’s focus on A1-free dairy solutions and brand strength.
Today, The a2 Milk Company mission remains the same: to pioneer the scientific understanding of the A2 protein type so more people can enjoy the nutritional goodness that only comes from real and natural milk.
